Hosneara Thibodeau

Hosneara is an experienced lawyer with a broad and diverse background. She specializes in general litigation (corporate and commercial), construction matters, intellectual property, and labour and employment law. Hosneara’s legal career started in civil and tax litigation in Montreal, where she gained experience in court daily. After moving to Alberta, Hosneara has worked in various roles, notably for a national union where she gained in-depth experience in dealing with labour matters, from grievance to collective bargaining. She then transitioned to be a Crown prosecutor, where she prosecuted a wide range of criminal offences. She also worked across Western Canada as in-house counsel for a large heavy road construction company. Hosneara’s unique background has a large impact on the results she can achieve for her clients. She can quickly assess new matters, and address clients’ questions and concerns so the files move ahead in an efficient and cost-effective manner.

Hosneara has been involved in several significant rulings, including one on reasonable time for trial dates in R v Moeketsi, police acting within their jurisdiction in R v Rain and the ability to contest tax assessment in bankruptcy situations in Ménard c. Agence du revenu du Québec.  She is a member of the Barreau du Quebec, the Law Society of Alberta and the Association des juristes d’expression française de l’Alberta. She is fluent in English and French and welcomes clients in both official languages.

Outside her professional life, Hosneara enjoys spending time with her toddler and husband discovering the world, hiking in the mountains, cycling and trying new cuisines.
