Owen’s civil and commercial litigation practice focuses on construction law. He has a significant background in the heavy construction and utilities industries that complement his legal work in that field. Owen is also experienced in litigation and dispute resolution on a wide range of contractual, employment, defamation, intellectual property, wills and estates, real estate, and insurance matters. He has a political science degree from the University of Alberta and a degree from the French Common Law program at the University of Ottawa. He is currently enrolled in computing science for lawyers at Harvard University. Owen is passionate about finding effective and creative solutions for his clients and strives to uphold the highest standards of professionalism and ethics in his practice.

He has appeared before Alberta’s Court of Justice and Court of King’s Bench. He was counsel on a multi-week American Arbitration Association hearing at the International Centre for Dispute Resolution Canada in Vancouver, B.C. Owen has dealt with matters at Alberta’s Land and Property Rights Tribunal, Human Rights Tribunal and advocated in French a leading precedent case on extenuating circumstances at the Employment Insurance Commission of the Social Security Tribunal of Canada, in Ottawa, Ont. Owen is a member of the Association des juristes d’expression française de l’Alberta (AJEFA) and welcomes French-speaking clients to provide legal services in their preferred language.

In his free time, Owen travels when he can and still plays top-tier hockey in Edmonton’s recreational leagues. He enjoys showing off his multiple MVP sweaters from the Queen’s Law Cup in Kingston, Ont., having participated as a law student and alumni on behalf of the University of Ottawa’s Common Law Hockey Club.
